Background: Troop 22 has a rich history as one of the oldest Troops in the Greater Tampa Bay Area Council, originally chartered in 1921. Since its inception 214 Scouts in Troop 22 have earned their Eagle Rank. Our Troop is a boy-led organization with diverse programming and an active membership base. We are sponsored by Hyde Park United Methodist Church, located at 500 West Platt Street, in Tampa, Florida
Meetings: We meet weekly on Mondays at 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm when Hillsborough County public schools are in session. The meeting schedule is set at the beginning of the school year and can be accessed on our web site calendar. Additionally, our troop leaders often send out reminder emails to the Scouts and parents about meetings and the focus of the meeting, if needed.
Outings: We have monthly camp outings, also listed on the web site’s calendar. The patrols organize the gear and food for themselves unless the food is being provided as a troop or by the camp location.
Summer Camps: Troop 22 participates in one summer camp each year. We go to a traditional Boy Scout camp, usually within one day's driving distance of Florida. In the recent past we have also had a contingency going to Sea Base in the Florida Keys, Philmont in New Mexico, or Northern Tier in Minnesota. The planning for these trips starts up to 2 years in advance.
